Saturday, September 23rd, will be our last of four ReddUp Zone cleanups in Pittsburgh.   This effort is in response to the social responsibility requirement for our KAPE Award.  A great network opportunity!

Our area is Grant Street from Liberty Avenue to Second Avenue.
We will meet at 9am  in the open parking lot across from the City County Building, 414 Grant Street, Pittsburgh, PA  15219.   If you park in this lot, ASQ Pgh will pay your parking, otherwise parking will be around $6.00.  Everyone is welcome so bring a friend, significant other, or spouse!  A waiver form is needed to be signed for this event and sent in to the City.  I will bring one with me to sign.

Please bring gloves.  We have (non) latex gloves if you forget.  I will have 6 brooms and dust pans.  We will use them first and if we should happen to need more it would be helpful if you could bring a broom just in case.

We will always have a meet and greet at Bruegger's Bagels for about 20-30 minutes for refreshments and/or a bite.  Done by 11am.

Presentation
Does a standard gage R&R adequately assess your measurement system?   Quality professionals often must include multiple instruments, laboratories or other additional factors in their study.  Simply repeating a standard study at all levels of the new factor is incomplete and often very inefficient.  This presentation shows how an expanded study works, how to determine the appropriate sampling plan, analyze important interactions and handle missing data.  Several manufacturing and laboratory systems will be used to illustrate this new methodology.

Be prepared and bring your examples to answer the question:  "Where is our measurement variability coming from?”

Presentation:

Batteries have become an integral part of our daily life. They are used in phones, smoke detectors, wearable trackers, cars etc. The “smart” batteries of today have more features and safety mechanisms than ever before.  Selecting the right battery chemistry with appropriate parameters, ensuring it can be used safely with your device and testing batteries sufficiently before launching a new product is key. This presentation will give an overview of types of batteries, what is a smart battery, communication schemes for smart batteries, battery capacity, shelf life, charge time, usage time, reliability, tips to extend battery life etc. ISO standards applicable to batteries will also be discussed.
